DETROIT - Marian Hossa scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period and the Red Wings held on to beat the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 Monday night.
Johan Franzen also scored for Detroit and Chris Osgood made 15 saves.
Chris Kunitz scored Anaheim's goal and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 37 shots before being removed after two periods. Jonas Hiller made eight saves in the third period.
Hossa got the winner 1:48 into the third period when he beat Hiller from the right circle to convert a two-on-one pass from Dan Cleary. It was Hossa's 14th goal and the second straight Red Wings' win in which he broke a third period tie.
Franzen tied it 1-all with 5:34 left in the second period when he tipped in Nicklas Lidstrom's shot from the point out of midair for his 11th goal.
Kunitz opened the scoring just 1:50 into the game on Anaheim's first shot, when he stuffed in a shot from beside the net for his fifth goal. It was set up by Detroit defenseman Brad Stuart'sgiveaway behind his own net.
The Red Wings gave up a goal on the opponent's first shot for the second consecutive game. Franzen's goal came on Detroit's 32nd shot.
GAME NOTES: Detroit RW Tomas Holmstrom missed his seventh game with back spasms. ... Anaheim C Brian Sutherby missed his sixth game with an injured groin. ... Red Wings' RWDarren McCarty missed his second game with a sore groin. ... Franzen's goal was his 100th career point.
